PM Narendra Modi has now made history by winning the Lok Sabha, he has an oath for the position of Prime Minister for the third time in a row as the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance secured a majority in the 543 members of the Lok Sabha. The election results were announced on 4th June 2024, Tuesday and indicated that the NDA has not achieved the landslide victory that most exit polls have predicted.

According to the source, the NDA was hovering about 292 seats. The opposition INDIA bloc was leading in 232 seats and the part of a coalition needs to win around 272 seats to come to power.

The only PM to have had three terms in office was Jawaharlal Nehru. He served as PM of India for 16 years and 286 days. He was a Prime Minister from 1947 to 1964. He was officially elected as a PM after the Congress won the first general elections in 1951 to 1952 and then from 1957 to 1962.
